viral.
Ailing Arthur Nzeribe at his country home |
Nzeribe
who is now 78, had not been seen on the social scene for some years now, a
situation many attributed to his defeat in the 2006 primaries of the People’s
Democratic Party to elect a senatorial candidate for his Orlu Imo state
constituency.
He
has not been a factor in the Nigerian politics for close to a decade.
He
once ran for office as president and was elected a senator in the short-lived
Babangida military-Civilian rule experiment and in 1999 and 2003.
In
his hay day he was known for his flamboyancy, he had permanent PRESIDENTIAL suite
at federal Palace Hotel Lagos and Transcorp Hilton known then as Nicon Hilton
Hotel.
He
was one Nigerian who took pride in living large had private jet ferry him
around the world and rode on Rolls Royce, all this earned him the appellation Maverick
Arthur Nzeribe.
