Acting President Yemi Osinbajo with Traders of Garki Model Market |
As part of activities
to mark the 2nd Anniversary of the present administration, THE Acting
President Yemi Osinbajop visited the Garki Model Market where he interacted
with traders.
Osinbajo arrived the
market at 3:10pm and spent 40 minutes interacting with traders who complained
about the high cost of renting shops as well as high cost of buying goods which
ranges from fish, onion, tomatoes and rice.
A fish seller asked
for government’s intervention to reduce the cost of shops which is N250, 000
per annum, while another seller complained about the lack of adequate store
space, adding that the market management has not been able to complete the shops
they paid for long time ago.
Acting President Yemi
Osinbajo promised to talk to the market management about the high cost of rent
but advised the traders to go into farming, emphasizing that it’s the only way
to ensure food sufficiency and crash product prizes.
Osinbajo was accompanied
by the Minister of State Trade and Investment Aisha Abubakar and other Senior
Presidential Aides.
The surprise Market Visit
is part of activities to mark the second anniversary of the administration and
also feel the pulse of the people directly and assure them that the
administration was committed to improve the economy and ensure that life gets
better for them.
