INEC GET ONLY TEN BILLION OUT OF THIRTY FIVE BILLION APPROPRITED IN 2012

Independent National Electoral Commission says it has only received Ten billion Naira out of the Thirty Five billion appropriation of 2012. Addressing the House Committee on Electoral Matters who were at the commission Headquarters in Maitama Abuja, Acting Chairman of INEC Abdulkadir Oniyangi stated that Ten Billion was released to the commission in March 2012.

He emphasized that the additional funds released in the second quater of the year was paid into the treasury savings account a situation that members of the house committee on electoral matters did not take lightly.

Chairman of the House committee on electoral matters Jerry Marwe described the act of putting INEC's money into the Treasury Savings Account as illegal, adding that the committee would summon the Accountant General Federation and Minister of Finance to clarify reasons for the this.
