Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffery Onyeama |
Nigerian government says it plans to shut down five
of its foreign missions as part of its current reorganization aimed at
achieving greater efficiency.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama disclosed
this during a briefing on the achievements of the ministry in the past two
years.
He hinted that the affected missions have already
been identified and process of winding them down would commence if the
president gives the go-ahead.
Onyeama did not disclose the affected embassies to Masquerade234,
he however admitted that closing missions abroad could be “extremely
expensive.”
On the incessant attacks of Nigerians in South Africa,
the Foreign Affairs Minister reassured of continuous dialogue with the South
African government to put an end to the situation.
