The centre can
no longer hold in Ekiti State of Nigeria Following the alleged arrest of the
Ekiti State lawmakers by the officials of the Department of State Services, which
has led the state government, to vow to resist any attempt by the federal
government to disrupt the democratic system of the state.
Secretary to
Ekiti State Government, Modupe Alade, who spoke with journalists, alleged that the
federal government was intimidating the present government led by Governor Ayodele
Fayose by planning to arrest all the state lawmakers and members of the State
Executive Council through the DSS operatives.
Alade also noted
that as a result of these illegal arrests, aides of the governor and other
lawmakers are currently living in fear, stressing that she decided to address
the newsmen in Akure Ondo State so as to avoid being arrested illegally by the
security operatives
Meanwhile the Department of State Servises has paraded Afolabi
Akanni, the Ekiti State Assembly lawmaker who the government of Ekiti State
said died in DSS custody.
Afolabi Akanni who represents Efon constituency at the
state’s assembly has been in detention since March 4 was

gathered that Governor Ayo Fayose is the target of the alleged intimidation and
arrest by the security operatives.
