Former chairman of the Peoples
Democratic Party, Haliru Bello Mohammed, appeared before the Federal High
Court, Abuja, sitting on a wheel chair.
Bello appeared
alongside his son, Abba Bello, following allegations of money laundering
levelled them and their company, BAM projects and Properties Ltd, by the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Abba Mohammed is
alleged to have received N600m from the office of the National Security Adviser
in the name of Bam Properties.
At the court, Mohammed
and his son pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Trial Justice
Ahmed Mohammed adjourned till Thursday to determine whether or not Bello and
his son should be granted bail after the former PDP chairman’s counsel prayed
the court to grant him bail to attend to his health.
The trial judge
Ahmed Mohammed ordered the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase to
supervise the stay of Bello, at the Abuja clinics pending the determination of Bello’s
bail application which has been fixed for January 7, 2016.
The Nigerian media

present administration has vowed to recover every kobo misappropriated.
