Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu

Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu says he has no intention to contest the 2015 governorship elections in Enugu State. Senator Ekweremadu stated trhis while fielding questions during a breakfast meeting with members of the senate press corp in Abuja.

On the contentious zoning issue, Senator Ekweremadu emphasized that though he would be happy to see a candidate from Enugu North Senatorial district emerge as the next governor of the state, it would not be based on any previous agreed or written zoning formula.

He went on further to state that he was not aware of any zoning formula, adding that his zone was the only senatorial zone yet to produce a governor of the state since 1999 despite the abundance of qualified personality.
