PRESIDENT BUHARI REWARDS VICTORIOUS 85 EAGLETS AND OTHER OUTSTANDING ATHLETES


Victorious Under 16 Kodak JVC 1985 Chanpions


President Muhammadu Buhari has rewarded members of the nation’s Under-16 Football Team that won the 1985 FIFA Championship when he was military Head of State to the tune of two million naira each to the players and one point five million naira to the coach.

The recipient which included Fatai Atere, Nduka Ugbade, Jonathan Akpoborie, Baldwin Bazuaye, Victor Igbinoba and late Kingsley Aikiobare among others were at a presidential reception organized at the Banquet hall of the Presidential Villa Abuja.

Buhari described the reward as a token of appreciation for service to the country, according to Buhari, he is fulfilled that the almighty Allah has kept him alive to redeem the promise he made thirty years ago. The coup of 1985 led by general Ibrahim Babangida truncated the fulfillment of his promise made to the victorious 1985 FIFA Under-16 Football Championship.

The rewards also include other outstanding athletes/officials and other teams who did Nigeria proud in recent international sports competitions.
