SOLDIERS AND POLICE DISLODGE PROTESTING UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA STUDENT

 

Detachment of Policemen ensuring vehicular movement

Following Masquerade234 report of the protest by University of Abuja student over the non accreditation of some courses in the institution, a Detachments of soldiers and policemen on Tuesday morning battled to dislodge protesting students of the University of Abuja from some major streets of the federal capital.

The students had taken their protest to the streets after the management of the school shut down the school. Manangement were reacting to the students’ protest, which disrupted activities in the institution on Monday.
The students moved to the streets of Abuja and remained overnight, demanding action on the non-accreditation of some courses in Engineering, Agriculture and Science faculties by the National Universities Commission.

Their street protest grounded Gwagwalada, the Abuja suburb where the school is located, as well as Airport Road, Abuja. Many motorists and other road users were stranded as the activities of the student caused a major hold up on that route and some roads in Abuja overnight.
