FORMER SUPER EAGLES COACH ACCUSE SOME EX INTERNATIONA OF BRIBING THEIR WAY NTO THE NATIONAL TEAM

Former Nigeria national team coach, Clemens Westerhof has revealed that bribery and corruption has been the norm amongst players to make the national team in the past. Westerhof, who coached Nigeria to success at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and also led the Super Eagles to their first-ever Fifa World Cup in the United States in 1994, said the players who did not merit a place in the national team got call-ups after giving money to team selectors.

Westerhof emphasized that then wrong people were the ones saddled with the running of the country's football.

Nigeria's most successful foreign coach was quoted as saying that monies usually exchanged hands between national team selectors and the players when places in the national team were considered. he said there cases where players paid money to the coach and said ‘I want to play for the national team’ and the coach would accept. They bought their way into the national team and it was an unbelievable situation. Very sad. I know these things,” Westerhof stated angrily.

With Nigeria set to compete at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations from January 2013, Westerhof said things have changed for the better under current head coach, Stephen Keshi who was the captain of his team when he was in charge of the National team

Masquerade234 hope these revelations are not just coming out to site some peole because in Nigeria's sport a lot of intrigues play out on a daily basis.
