Ahmed Musa of Nigeria |
Locomotive
Moscow winger Ahmed Musa scored a brace to put Nigeria World Cup dream alive in
Russia. Musa was recalled to the starting XI, along with Kelechi Iheanacho and
Kenneth Omeruo, as Gernot Rohr reverted to a 3-5-2 formation for the crunch
encounter.
The
First half of the game saw a lack luster performance by the Super Eagles as
they didn’t have any attempt at goal in that half, while the Vikings of Iceland
failed to convert some of their early
chances.
However,
in the second half, Musa controlled a cross from Victor Moses and lashed in the
opener.
He
completed his brace few minutes later, after controlling a long pass and
striding into the area to finish confidently.
The
win gives Nigeria three points and takes them into second place, ahead of next
week’s decider against Argentina.
