SARAKI/ EKWEREMADU EMERGES PRESIDENT AND DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT OF THE 8TH ASSEMBLY

Senator Bukola Saraki APC-Kwara Central has been elected unopposed as President of 8th Senate by 57 of 108 Senators, with 51 Senators, including Sen. Ahmed Lawan, absent.

The absentee senator were said to be having a meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari over the crisis rocking the APC over the leadership of the 8th assembly.

Senator Saraki took his oath of office at exactly 10:25 am at the Ntional assembly.
                             


Deputy Senate President  Ike Ekweremadu
For the position of the deputy senate president it was a contest between Senator Ike Ekweremadu of the PDP and Senator Ali Ndume of the APC, after ballot was cast by senators elect Ike Ekweremadu emerged winner with 57 votes as against Ndumes 25 votes.

Senators from kano, kebbi, Lagos and Osun State abstained from the vote.
