OHANEZE NDIGBO REJECTS APPOINTMENT OF NEW SERVICE CHIEFS.

Ohaneze Ndigbo has criticized the recent sack of Service Chiefs of the armed forces of Nigeria and appointment of new ones by president Goodluck Azikwe Jonathan. The group emphasized that the recent sack has once again confirmed the calculated marginalization of the Igbos by the government of Nigeria.

They wondered why their son General Ihejirika would be sacked and President Jonathan did not find another son from the Igbo race as a worthy replacement.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo described the recent appointment as lopsided and is contrary to the provisions of the 1999 constitution of Nigeria (amended) on the principle of federal character, sections 217(3) & 219(b) which makes it mandatory for the President to observe federal character in appointment of service chiefs of the armed forces.

They however called on the National Assembly to reject in its totality this manifest injustice against a major tribe in Nigeria the Ibo nation by Mr president, as it is now a settled law in Nigeria that appointment of service chiefs must be confirmed by the National Assembly in line with the recent judgment of the court in favor of Festus Keyamo and in compliance with section 219 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (amended)

Masquerade234 would give further details as the issues play out.
