The newly constituted governing board of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response agency says it
major assignment is to reposition the agency to achieve its mandate of protecting
the country from oil spillages and its attendant consequences.
Addressing the press Chairman of the board Lancelot
Ayanya emphasized that a lot needs to be done to reposition the agency to be
fully efficient.
He emphasized that the issue of oil spillages is not
restricted to a particular geographic location, adding that such spillages
could reverberate thousands of miles away through the food chain cycle. He urged everyone to be responsible for the safety of the environment.
