HURRICANE SANDY WRECKS HAVOC TO SOME UNITED STATE CITY

Hurricane Sandy has hit the city of new york with so many casualty. Report reaching Masquerade234 says the death toll from super storm Sandy’s has risen to 14, officials said and the figure could climb further as rescue operations were still under way.

Local officials in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and North Carolina reported 13 dead from the massive storm system, and Toronto police said a Canadian woman was killed by flying debris. Three people died in New Jersey, including two parents who were killed when a falling tree crushed their car, sparing their children aged 11 and 14 who were inside with them, Governor Chris Christie told MSNBC.

Christie added that rescue operations were still under way, with three separate teams deployed in Atlantic City, the coastal casino town near where the storm made landfall at 0000 GMT Tuesday. At least five people were killed by the storm in New York state, including a 30-year-old man crushed by a fallen tree in the New York City borough of Queens, a spokesman for Governor Andrew Cuomo told US media.

 Businesses, schools, roads, bridges and tunnels  remained closed on Tuesday as the damaging winds continued.About 1,000 flights were said to have been cancelled at each of the three major airports in New York.
The National Hurricane Centre had reported that tropical storm winds (from 39-73 mph) went as far as  520 miles in many directions from the centre of Sandy.As at 2 p.m., the centre of the storm was located about 575 miles south of New York City, with sustained wind speeds of 75 mph, making it a Category I hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale of hurricane intensity.The centre noted that sandy was moving to the northeast at 14 mph.
