A group of youths under the aegis of Network of Kogi
State Youths Association have given the federal government a seven says ultimatum
to rescind the Status of oil producing state given to Anambra State, Claiming
that the oil bloc in question belong to Kogi State.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja coordinator of the group
Umar Akwu says its incumbent on the group to address the issue immediately and
stop the conspiracy of denying Kogi State of its god’s given talent.
The group admitted that the federal government has
the powers to grant operational licenses for oil exploration and refining. But
emphasisied that if this is to go on smoothly the federal should declare Kogi
State oil producing state.
Other demands includes that orient petroleum
stipulates in clear terms its corporate social responsibility, indigenes of
kogi ststae should be employed in the up and downstream oil exploration and that Kogi State should be
paid its deserved 13% derivation from the federation account with immediate
effect.
Akwu told Masquerade234 that if their demands are not
met they will mobilize members to street protest and declare agents of
government and those working in the interest of Orient Petroleum persona non
grata until the demands are met.
