CIVIL SOCIETY GROUP DEMANDS EXTRADITION OF DIEPREYE ALAMESEIYA TO THE UK TO FACE CORRUPTION CHARGES.

President Goodluck Jonathan
Several civil society have stormed Abuja demanding that President Goodluck Jonathan allows the extradition of former governor of Bayelsa State Diepreye Alamesieya to United Kingdom to face corruption charges. Addressing newsmen after a meeting they tagged Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, spoke person of the group Clement Nwankwo emphasized that they recognized the constitutional right of the president to grant State pardon but that Alameisieya has a case to answer in United Kingdom.

Nwankwo stressed that the granting of presidential pardon to the former governor who has been convicted of corruption in Nigeria rubs off negatively on the administrations claim of fighting corruption. Alamiesieya and others were recently granted state pardon by President Goodluck Jonathan and Nigerians have questioned the rational behind adding the names of some convicted persons.
