The present reality TV Show Big Brother Nigeria is causing
so much buzz about its location being in South Africa despite the fact that it
has an all Nigerian cast in the house.
As synonymous with Nigerian citizens who lend their
voices on issues that affect them, many of them are questioning the rationale behind
the show with an all Nigerian cast and host is
holding in South-Africa and not Nigeria.
Organisers of the show have come under heavy
criticism being that aside the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and the contestants,
every other thing comes from South-Africa with Johannesburg as its filming
location. Although issues like electricity, equipment failure were sited by
some, majority feel the decision does little or no good to the seriously ailing
Nigerian economy which is presently battling with recession.
Masquerade234 went to the street of Abuja and most
respondent actually put the blame on federal government especially the Minister
of Information, Culture and National Orientation, for failing to live up to the
billing when it matters most.
Some are already calling on the National Assembly to
delve in to the matter and salvage the remaining pride we have as a country, because
they see no reason why Nigerian youth would be used for experiment in another
country.
The present controversy seems to be taken the shine
off the show in Nigeria even though those following the show say the routing
for Efe the real man in the House.
