LITRARY ICON ACHEBE IS DEAD

Proffesor Chinua Achebe

Africa and Nigeria's foremost novelist Professor Chinua Achebe is dead, he died after a brief illness in the United State of America. Achebe who was based in the United States had been hospitalised in recent days in Boston, Massachussets where he passed away at 82 years.

Achebe would be remembered for his book Thing Fall Apart which has been translated to more than fifty two languages in the world.

His last work titled THERE WAS A COUNTRY has generated so much controversy with the way it captured the Biafran war of 1966 to 1970 in Nigeria, where he enthused that the Igbo race was maligned and almost wiped out from the project called Nigeria.
